In February, Mercer Athletics formed its first Student Athlete Leadership Council (SALC). The SALC is made up of student athletes from each °®½´ÊÓƵ sports team. The SALC allows student athletes to express and address concerns and issues among Viking sports teams and also gives °®½´ÊÓƵ student athletes leadership opportunities. The SALC also serves as a way for Viking athletes to get to know student athletes from other °®½´ÊÓƵ sports teams.
The SALC meets monthly during the academic school year and discusses issues with Athletic Department staff. The first SALC members were: baseball players Joe Gmitter (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and Slade Harrill (New Egypt, NJ/Allentown), softball players Maya Patel (Burlington, NJ/Burlington Township) and Makenna Spak (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert), men’s lacrosse players Liam Halloran (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury) and Braden Travaglini (Berlin, NJ/Eastern Regional), men’s soccer players Dillon Du Toit (Johannesburg, South Africa/Waterstone College), Omolemo Matla (Vereeniging, South Africa/Waterstone College) and Erik Carchipulla (Hightstown, NJ/Hightstown HS) and men’s tennis players Jack Wolfarth (Ewing, NJ/Ewing HS) and Joseph Wong (Lawrence, NJ/Lawrence HS).
If interested in joining the SALC for the 2024-25 academic year or would like more information on Mercer’s SALC, please contact Athletic Director Eric Grundman at grundmane@mccc.edu
