Mercer men’s and women’s basketball will begin Region 19 Playoff play on Thursday, February 26th in the Region Semifinals at Lackawanna College. °®½´ÊÓÆµ men’s basketball earned a bye into the Semifinals as the #1 seed and will face the winner of #4 CC of Morris vs #5 Lackawanna. If the Mustangs win they will face the winner of #2 Raritan Valley vs #3 Middlesex College.
Mercer men’s basketball enters the Region 19 Playoffs with a 18-11 overall record and 9-3 record in Region play. °®½´ÊÓÆµ has had a dramatic turnaround in the second half of the season after beginning the season 0-8. Mercer is looking to advance to the Region 19 Championship for the first time since 2015.
°®½´ÊÓÆµ beat Morris 81-72 on December 13th at home and 85-80 at Morris on January 22nd. Mercer beat Lackawanna 77-66 on the road on December 9th and 89-82 at home on February 10th.
Mercer women’s basketball enters the Region Semifinals as the #3 seed and will face #2 Union who the Mustangs lost to in their final regular season game. °®½´ÊÓÆµ is 20-5 overall and 10-4 in Region play. If the Mustangs win they will reach their first Region Championship game since the 2004-2005 season.
Mercer women are ranked 15th in the country and Union is ranked 11th. °®½´ÊÓÆµ lost to Union 76-65 on December 16th and 84-78 on February 17th.
Both °®½´ÊÓÆµ basketball teams have had great seasons but the most important games are Thursday as the playoffs begin.
